All refreshed for our second day, we started the morning with breakfast at the hotel before making the very brief drive to the Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston WV. The church has a very interesting history. After a fire destroyed most of the church building in the 1960's, they rebuilt a very modern building on the same spot incorporating many architectural pieces of the old church that survived the fire including the steeple. The choir sang four of their pieces in addition to leading the congregation in the service hymns. Our host who was the music director was just ordained a deacon and this was his first service. Following the service we were treated to a great Mexican lunch catered by Qdoba. After saying goodbye to the deacon and his wife we boarded our bus for the 6 hour trip through the Appalachian mountains to Norris, Tennessee. On the way we stopped for a quick dinner before arriving in Norris to meet up with our host families for a night of good conversation, swimming for some, and other activities. New pictures have been added to the gallery. Enjoy!
